This 10-day Himalayan overland journey begins with an overnight transfer from Delhi to Manali, gradually transitioning from plains to alpine valleys. From Manali, the route crosses the Atal Tunnel into Lahaul and ascends over Shinkula Pass into the remote Zanskar region, reaching Padum and surrounding monasteries.

The itinerary continues across Pensi La into Suru Valley and onward to Kargil, shifting from high-altitude desert terrain to greener river valleys. From Kargil, the journey follows the historic highway through Drass and Zoji La to Sonamarg before turning north toward Gurez Valley via Razdan Pass.

The final days focus on exploring Gurez and Tulail valleys along the Kishanganga River, covering alpine meadows and high mountain viewpoints before concluding with transfer to Srinagar. The route forms a wide Himalayan circuit connecting Himachal, Zanskar, Ladakh borderlands, and Kashmir’s remote valleys.

Begin your journey in Delhi with preparations for an overnight trip to Manali.

After returning to the vehicle, continue the drive toward Padum, covering key landmarks en route
Munay Monastery and the New Guru Padmasambhava Statue, located right beside the road
Bardan Monastery, dramatically perched on a single massive rock on the riverbank
Gyalwang Rinpoche Rock Carving (5 Gyanai Buddha), an important spiritual and cultural site
Arrive in Padum by evening and visit Shella to see the Shella Waterfall and explore the local market.

Start with Gyalwang Rinpoche Rock Carving, a revered rock-cut Buddha image reflecting the region’s ancient Buddhist heritage. Continue to the 5 Gyanai Buddha Rock Carving, known for its intricate carvings and spiritual significance.
Proceed to Karsha Monastery, the largest monastery in Zanskar Valley, offering one of the best panoramic views of Padum town.
