Beginning from Chandigarh, the route passes Bilaspur, Sundarnagar, Mandi, Kullu, and Manali before heading deeper into the Himalayas through Solang Valley, Atal Tunnel, Sissu, Keylong, and Jispa.

From Jispa, the journey ventures towards Zanskar through Shinkula Pass and Purne, surrounded by rugged mountains, remote valleys, and dramatic high-altitude scenery. A memorable hike leads to the cliffside Phuktal Monastery before the road continues towards Padum through Munay and Bardan monasteries.

Time around Padum brings travellers closer to the cultural and spiritual heritage of Zanskar Valley, with rock carvings, Karsha Monastery, Stongdey Monastery, Zangla Palace, Sani Gompa, and Dzongkul Gompa included in the journey.
