This extended Char Dham pilgrimage begins in Dehradun, where the journey starts with local sightseeing across historic landmarks, temples, and cultural markets in the Doon Valley. The itinerary then ascends toward Mussoorie in the lower Himalayas before continuing deeper into the Garhwal mountain region.
From Mussoorie, the route moves toward Barkot in the Yamuna Valley, which serves as the gateway for the Yamunotri pilgrimage. After completing the trek to the first shrine, the journey proceeds through Himalayan valleys along the Bhagirathi River basin to reach Uttarkashi for the Gangotri excursion.
After visiting Gangotri, the route travels across the Garhwal Himalayas through several sacred river confluences before reaching Guptkashi in the Mandakini Valley. From here the itinerary continues toward Kedarnath via the trekking route from Gaurikund before returning to the valley town.
The pilgrimage then shifts eastward toward the Alaknanda Valley, passing through Joshimath before reaching the sacred Badrinath temple region. Additional exploration around Badrinath includes nearby Himalayan settlements and mythological landmarks before descending again to Joshimath.
From Joshimath the itinerary includes an excursion to Auli, known for its alpine meadows and Himalayan viewpoints. The journey then descends through the Garhwal valleys toward the spiritual town of Rishikesh located on the banks of the Ganges.
The final part of the tour focuses on the spiritual ghats, temples, and ashrams of Rishikesh before returning through the Himalayan foothills to Dehradun. The journey concludes in the Doon Valley, completing the full Char Dham circuit along with major Garhwal hill destinations.
