The route heads northeast to Athirappilly through riverine forests, focusing on major cascades before ascending into the Western Ghats.

From Athirappilly, the drive climbs through winding mountain roads and plantation zones to reach Munnar, transitioning from rainforest terrain to cool high-altitude tea estates.
