The journey begins from Chandigarh, ascending into the Shivalik and middle Himalayan ranges toward Shimla with scenic halts across Kalka, Solan, and Shoghi before settling into the colonial hill town.
From Shimla, the route follows the Hindustan–Tibet Road eastward through Fagu, Rampur, and Karcham into the Baspa Valley, reaching Chitkul and continuing onward to Kalpa in the Kinnaur region.
The expedition then transitions into the stark cold desert terrain of Spiti via Nako, gradually moving deeper into high-altitude monasteries and river valleys before reaching Kaza for surrounding village and Pin Valley explorations.
The circuit advances across Kunzum Pass toward Chandertaal Lake, shifting from Spiti’s arid plateau into the Lahaul region and onward through the Atal Tunnel to the greener valleys of Manali.
The final stretch descends from Manali through Kullu, Mandi, and the lower Himalayan belt, reconnecting with Chandigarh and completing a trans-Himalayan circuit across Kinnaur, Spiti, Lahaul, and Kullu valleys.
