The expedition commences with a northern transfer from Delhi, ascending into the high altitude lake district of the Kumaon region. The initial phase of the journey is centered around the volcanic basins of Nainital and the surrounding military cantonment of Ranikhet. Movement involves traversing the oak forested ridges and fruit growing belts of Mukteshwar before pushing deeper into the interior mountain ranges toward the ridgelines of Kausani.
The route then transitions from the Kumaon hills into the Garhwal Himalayas, following the winding river valleys toward the mountain hub of Joshimath. This geographic shift moves the journey into the high altitude winter sports region of Auli, where movement is facilitated by cable cars and alpine trekking trails overlooking the Nanda Devi National Park. The itinerary then tracks the sacred "Panch Prayag" route, following the descent of the Alaknanda river as it flows toward the spiritual plains.
The final leg of the circuit explores the subtropical riverine ecosystem of the yoga capital, Rishikesh, and the holy gateway of Haridwar. This phase focuses on the transition of the Ganges from a mountain torrent to a wide river on the plains, navigating between various riverside ashrams, forest temples, and sacred ghats. The journey concludes with a southern transfer back through the transit corridors toward Delhi for departure.
