The journey begins from Chandigarh, ascending gradually into the Shivalik and middle Himalayan ranges toward Shimla, with scenic stops across Kalka, Solan, and Shoghi before settling into the colonial hill town.
From Shimla, the route follows the historic Hindustan–Tibet Road eastward through Fagu, Theog, Rampur, and Karcham, entering the Baspa Valley to reach Chitkul near the Indo-Tibet frontier.
The expedition then transitions from the greener Kinnaur landscapes into the stark cold desert terrain of Spiti via Khab and Nako, gradually moving deeper into high-altitude monasteries and river valleys before arriving in Kaza.
Local explorations around Kaza extend into surrounding high villages and the Pin Valley region, forming circular excursions across rugged Himalayan plateaus before retracing westward toward Kalpa.
The return journey descends from the high Spiti and Kinnaur belt through Rampur and Narkanda, eventually reconnecting with Shimla’s ridge region before concluding back in Chandigarh, completing a full Himalayan circuit.
