6 Days Himachal Pradesh Trip Overview

The journey begins from Manali, proceeding towards Jispa via Solang Valley, Atal Tunnel, Sissu Village, and Keylong, with a visit to Kardang Monastery en route. Upon arrival in Jispa, the route follows the Bhaga River valley. The next day continues from Jispa to Purne via Shinkula Pass, crossing high-altitude terrain and passing Gambo Ranjan peak before reaching the remote village of Purne for overnight stay.

From Purne, the route includes a short trek to Phuktal Monastery, a cave monastery located along the Tsarap River gorge. After returning, the journey proceeds towards Padum, covering Munay Monastery, Bardan Monastery, and Gyalwang Rinpoche Rock Carving. Local exploration in Padum includes visits to Karsha Monastery, Stongdey Monastery, and Zangla Palace, covering key cultural and geographic landmarks of Zanskar Valley.

The return journey from Padum proceeds towards Jispa via the confluence of Kurgiak and Tsarap rivers, Purne village, and Gambo Ranjan, crossing Shinkula Pass again. Descending through Darcha, the route reconnects with Lahaul Valley and reaches Jispa. The final leg continues from Jispa to Manali via Atal Tunnel and Solang Valley, concluding the circuit through Zanskar and Lahaul regions.

After returning to the vehicle, continue the drive toward Padum, covering key landmarks en route
Munay Monastery and the New Guru Padmasambhava Statue, located right beside the road
Bardan Monastery, dramatically perched on a single massive rock on the riverbank

Arrive in Padum by evening and visit Shella to see the Shella Waterfall and explore the local market.

Start with Gyalwang Rinpoche Rock Carving, a revered rock-cut Buddha image reflecting the region’s ancient Buddhist heritage. Continue to the 5 Gyanai Buddha Rock Carving, known for its intricate carvings and spiritual significance.
Proceed to Karsha Monastery, the largest monastery in Zanskar Valley, offering one of the best panoramic views of Padum town. Nearby, visit the Karsha Buddha Statue and the Karsha Monastery New Complex, which also serves as the residence of His Holiness and showcases modern Tibetan architectural style.
Later, head to Stongdey Monastery, dramatically located on a ridge at the northern end of Zanskar, offering an eagle-eye view over the valley.
