The journey begins in Manali with a drive through Solang Valley and onward via the Atal Tunnel into the Lahaul region. Travellers experience changing terrain from lush pine valleys to cold desert landscapes as they pass Sissu and Keylong, the cultural heart of the valley. Kardang Monastery offers a glimpse into Buddhist heritage before reaching Jispa, a peaceful riverside settlement on the Bhaga River. The first day focuses on gradual altitude gain, scenic transitions, and acclimatization in serene Himalayan surroundings.
From Jispa, the route advances towards Purne via Shinkula Pass, crossing high-altitude terrain and panoramic viewpoints like Gambo Ranjan peak. Purne marks entry into the remote Zanskar region, where landscapes become more rugged and isolated. The journey continues to Phuktal Monastery, accessible by short trek, showcasing cliffside architecture above river gorges. En route to Padum, travellers visit Munay Monastery, Guru Padmasambhava statue, Bardan Monastery, and Gyalwang Rinpoche carvings before reaching the cultural centre of Zanskar for overnight stay.
Padum exploration covers major spiritual and historical landmarks including Karsha Monastery, its Buddha statue complex, Stongdey Monastery, and Zangla Palace with its royal heritage. The journey then retraces towards Jispa via Shinkula Pass, passing river confluences and traditional villages like Purne. The final stretch returns through Darcha and re-enters the Manali region via Atal Tunnel and Solang Valley. The trip concludes with arrival at Manali bus stand, followed by an overnight Volvo journey back to Delhi, completing the full luxury Zanskar circuit.
