Upon arrival, travelers experience initial acclimatization in the Himalayan foothills. The route continues with a visit to Solang Valley, followed by a drive through the Atal Tunnel into Lahaul. Scenic stops at Sissu Village and Keylong introduce regional landscapes and culture, before reaching Jispa, a riverside village along the Bhaga River, where the day concludes with rest in a high-altitude setting.

From Jispa, the route advances deeper into remote Himalayan terrain towards Purne, crossing the high-altitude Shinkula Pass that connects Lahaul and Zanskar regions. The journey includes views of Gambo Ranjan peak and expansive valley landscapes. At Purne, the itinerary focuses on an excursion to Phuktal Monastery via a trekking route along the Tsarap River, passing through gorges, suspension bridges, and scattered settlements, leading to the cave-built monastery known for its spiritual and architectural features.

The return journey retraces the route from Purne to Jispa, again crossing Shinkula Pass and passing through Zanskar Sumdo where terrain gradually transitions. The journey’s main highlight is crossing Shinkula Pass (approx. 5,091 m), one of the most scenic and remote passes on the Zanskar–Lahaul route. Expect dramatic mountain views, snow patches, and a true sense of altitude and isolation.
Descend toward Zanskar Sumdo, where the terrain begins to soften and the river valleys open up—this marks the transition from rugged Zanskar to greener Himachal landscapes.
Continue onward to Jispa, arriving by evening.
Check in at your hotel, enjoy dinner at the hotel, and relax with an overnight stay in Jispa.


Depart Jispa after breakfast and drive toward Manali, enjoying changing landscapes from cold desert to pine valleys.
