This Panch Kedar pilgrimage begins in Dehradun and travels through the Shivalik hills toward the spiritual town of Rishikesh on the banks of the Ganges River. The early part of the journey explores sacred ghats, suspension bridges, waterfalls and ashrams before entering the deeper Himalayan valleys of Uttarakhand.
From Rishikesh, the route ascends through the Garhwal Himalayas along the Alaknanda and Mandakini river valleys toward Guptkashi. This region serves as the gateway for the Kedarnath pilgrimage, where the sacred Jyotirlinga temple stands surrounded by snow-covered Himalayan peaks.
After Kedarnath, the journey continues to remote Himalayan trails leading to Madhyamaheshwar, one of the Panch Kedar temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The pilgrimage then proceeds toward Chopta, an alpine meadow region known for its panoramic Himalayan landscapes and trekking routes.
From Chopta, travelers trek to Tungnath Temple and Chandrashila summit before continuing deeper into the Garhwal mountains toward Rudranath, another sacred Panch Kedar shrine set amid high-altitude bugyals and forested ridges. These routes pass through remote villages, meadows and Himalayan valleys.
The pilgrimage then moves to Joshimath, the historic gateway town of the region, before an excursion to Kalpeshwar Temple located in the peaceful Urgam Valley. Kalpeshwar is the final shrine of the Panch Kedar circuit and is surrounded by terraced farms and dense forests.
The journey concludes with a scenic descent through several sacred river confluences along the Alaknanda valley before reaching Haridwar on the plains. After visiting the holy ghats and temples of Haridwar, the tour ends with departure from Dehradun.
