Gir Jungle Safari and Devalia are separate visitor experiences. Confirm the product name before comparing accommodation or prices.

Choose the experience

A forest safari follows an authorised route through the habitat. Devalia is an enclosed interpretation-zone experience with separate bus and gypsy arrangements.

Girnar Nature Safari is another distinct product and should not be confused with Sasan Gir’s forest outing.

• Check duration and vehicle type.
• Choose your overnight base afterwards.
• Do not accept guaranteed wild lion sightings.

Sasan Gir is reached by road from regional transport connections, including the Junagadh and Veraval areas.

Compare complete arrival journeys

The forest department’s visitor booklet places Sasan roughly 65 km from Junagadh and 45 km from Veraval. Confirm the actual distance to your property and reporting point.

For flights, check operating services and the complete road transfer. Older guides may use outdated Rajkot airport assumptions; the current airport is at Hirasar, outside the city.

• Avoid a late arrival before early reporting.
• Confirm the exact station.
• Arrange the final transfer.
• Allow luggage and check-in time.

Use the official Gir booking system to select the product, date and available session. Enter traveller details accurately.

Check the issued permit

Verify names, date, slot and reporting instructions. Carry the permit and required original identification; foreign visitors must follow the passport requirement in the published terms.

• Ensure all booked travellers are present at reporting.
• Do not treat a payment message alone as the final permit.

Cooler months generally offer comfortable conditions, while summer requires greater heat preparation.

Check product-specific access

Gir Jungle Safari currently has a scheduled closure from 16 June to 15 October. Devalia has separate arrangements and a published Wednesday closure.

Do not assume a general statement that “Gir is open” confirms your chosen experience.

• Carry layers for winter mornings.
• Use sun protection in warmer periods.
• Book early for popular dates.

The best property is one that provides practical access to your confirmed reporting point and suits your group’s comfort needs.

Ask specific questions

• What is the actual early-morning transfer time?
• Are safari transfers included?
• Can breakfast be arranged around the session?
• Are rooms accessible without difficult steps?
• Does the road remain practical in current conditions?

A property advertised as “near Gir” can still be inconvenient for your permit. Check location before paying.

Compare meal plans, taxes and cancellation terms rather than judging only by photographs or the word “resort”.

Arrive on Day 1 with time to settle and confirm reporting arrangements. Use Day 2 for a reserved morning safari and a relaxed departure.

Understand the safari components

Using the currently published weekday Indian permit of ₹800, a four-seat vehicle charge of ₹2,500 and a ₹400 guide category gives an illustrative shared safari subtotal of ₹3,700 for the eligible booking group. Verify capacity and applicability before payment.

This is not a complete trip price. Add accommodation, meals, transfers, camera charges where applicable and travel into and out of the region.

Prepare the previous evening so that reporting is calm and punctual.
